Perhaps this red carpet trailer puts it all in perspective. This is a mashup of all the live action and in game trailers for tomorrow release game Halo:Reach, and while I'm sure the multiplayer will be fun, I'm more looking forward to the story. Halo 3 solidly ended a battle you knew was going on, but I think Reach will definitely show how tough the beginning was.
This trailer actually makes me want to read the books.
